Deogiri College , Aurangabad is run by the Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s Aurangabad . It is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Maratwada University, Aurangabad. It is one of the foremost colleges in Marathwada Region .It is established in the year 1960.
The College is a leading and distinguished center of higher education . With a perfect confluence of conventional and unconventional courses , Deogiri College offers the programs of graduation and post graduation in various subjects related to Arts , Commerce , Science along with Management and Biotechnology courses and M.Phil ., Ph .D. research facilities in the subjects like English , Marathi , Hindi , Sociology , Public Administration , Chemistry , Geology, Psychology , Physics , Electronics , Zoology , Botany , and so on.
Foundation stone of the Library Building was laid on 14th Sept. 1985 by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar. The collection of 23 Ph.D. & M.Phil. Thesis of Sociology acquired from Dr. Dadarao Dhondiba Kachole, Aurangabad in the year 2010 & the collection of 83 Ph.D. & M.Phil. Thesis of Marathi Literature acquired from Dr. Sudam Jadhav, Aurangabad in the year 2014.
College library has its own importance in higher education. It helps in widening the range of knowledge and information to teachers and students. Our college library has tried its level best to provide necessary material to all the components of the college and looked after the quantitative & qualitative growth in library facilities. We are also connected to other college libraries under the inter library loan Facilities, e-Library facilities with INFLIBNET N-List and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Library consortia . The library is computerized with bar-coding of books, Circulation, and library membership cards. The library has purchased LIB- MAN Library Software developed by Master Software Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur.
The department of library was also established in the year 1960 with only 848 books and one Cup Board as storage space. The fifth law of library science namely “Library is Growing Organism” is also one of the goals of our library today we have more than 1,40,730 books and more than 5,017,1,583 E-Books & subscribe 115 print and more than 122,368 periodicals / journals and many other reading informative material.
