The department of geology is one of the oldest departments in Maharashtra region. In last 25 years, the department has made rapid strides in teaching, research and outreach activities. Besides the UG & PG courses the department of geology is only department that runs the UGC sanctioned full-fledged courses entitled Bachelor of Vocational Courses in Jewellery Design and Gemology in Marathwada region. The department is a research center recognised by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and is actively engaged in research work in petrology and hydrology in general and watershed development in perticular
The Geology department is enriched and eminent department for the knowledge, research and social activity. The department having well developed Palaeontology- Petrology lab with collection of fossil samples from the different localities of country. The Paleontological microscopes are available for the analysis of microfossils. All the instruments in the laboratory are advanced and calibrated in well working conditions.
